Gander Mountain - Customer Case Study

Gander Mountain, a multi-channel outdoor retailer, faced severe shipping bottlenecks at its Greenville, NC fulfillment center: the decade-old system could only process 7–8 parcels per minute, suffered frequent sorter jams, high exception rates, inaccurate dimensioning and weighing, and non-compliant manifesting software. Gander Mountain engaged Invata Intralogisitcs to design and retrofit an in-motion manifesting and sortation solution powered by Invata’s FastTrak Warehouse Control System.

Invata Intralogisitcs installed an elevated narrow-belt sorter with seven spiral decline chutes, in-motion dimensioning/scale/print-apply hardware, and integrated FastTrak WCS with the existing IRMS 360/WMS and Agile manifesting software, building much of the system in parallel to minimize downtime and providing remote-support capabilities. The new solution quadrupled processing capacity (rated 30 parcels per minute), delivered a Cyber Monday record of 8,500 parcels in a 10-hour shift (~14 ppm that day), improved rate-shopping and weight/dimension accuracy to nearly 100%, reduced exceptions and downtime, and eliminated roughly three full-time equivalent positions through labor savings.
