A Inuvika Case Study
The Namibia University of Science and Technology faced rising costs and complexity from a growing fleet of PC workstations and aging backend infrastructure that threatened its ability to modernize services and support growth. After earlier trials with VMware Horizon VDI proved too costly to maintain, the university selected Inuvika’s OVD Enterprise (deployed on a Nutanix hyperconverged platform) to consolidate application delivery, reduce desktop management overhead, and create a scalable foundation for expansion.
Inuvika implemented OVD Enterprise and enabled 90 Windows applications for 600 users (with capacity for 1,500+), paired with ClearCube C3Pi Raspberry Pi thin clients for student labs. The deployment delivered immediate savings in licensing and support, centralized updates, cut Level 1/2 support incidents to less than half, and reduced support staff by 60% (replacing a six-technician, two-day lab update process with centralized updates and one Level 1 technician for basic issues). These efficiencies allowed the IT team to reinvest resources into new services and scale more easily.
