British Telecom - Customer Case Study

British Telecom, through its Connected Science Workbench for life sciences, needed a secure, scalable cloud platform to help pharmaceutical and biotech customers collaborate, accelerate time‑to‑market and handle very large, regulated datasets while keeping costs and deployment time low. To meet these requirements British Telecom selected Inuvika and its Open Virtual Desktop (OVD) as the access mechanism for the service.

Inuvika implemented OVD as a “single pane of glass” into BT’s Cloud Compute infrastructure, delivering browser‑based Windows and Linux desktops preloaded with familiar applications and datasets, transparent firewall traversal, and a compliant, lockable environment that “airlocks” data while providing access in seconds to datasets measured in several petabytes. The result was a secure, easy‑to‑use and highly scalable solution that simplified provisioning and firewall/client requirements, strengthened BT’s Connected Science proposition and enabled faster, compliant collaboration — all delivered by Inuvika.
