The Chronicles of CUNA Rebuilding an Employee Intranet

Credit Union National Association Inc. ran an employee intranet launched in 2006 that had become stale and hard to manage: content was out-of-date, information was difficult to find, and maintenance overhead had grown. In November 2012 IT lead Nita McCann engaged Intranet Connections for support to revitalize and modernize the intranet.

Intranet Connections helped by creating a development replica of the live site, stripping the homepage back to a clean slate, consolidating scattered sub‑sites into a few centralized content libraries, introducing governance (FAQ and approval workflows), and redesigning navigation from a side menu to a top menu to improve readability. With Intranet Connections’ guidance CUNA regained a more manageable, discoverable intranet and improved content ownership and usability; the rebuilt site is being rolled out to key contributors, though the case study reports qualitative rather than quantitative metrics.
