Ochsner Improves Colorectal Test Screening Rates through West Outreach

Ochsner Medical Center needed a better way to improve colorectal screening rates among past-due patients in Louisiana, where compliance trailed the national average. Facing poor response to mailed communications and the high labor costs of manual calling, the health system turned to Intrado Healthcare’s West outreach/TeleVox automated phone notification service to reach patients more efficiently.

Using Intrado Healthcare’s automated outbound phone notifications, Ochsner contacted 3,137 patients with recent colonoscopy or upper endoscopy orders and gave them the option to transfer directly for scheduling or questions. The campaign drove 578 scheduled exams, an 18.4% conversion rate, generated an estimated $684,930 in revenue over two months, and is projected to help identify about 145 patients with pre-cancerous or cancerous polyps through early detection.
