Case Study: Alibaba Entrepreneurs Fund delivers a global virtual pitch competition with Intrado Healthcare

Discover how Alibaba transformed their annual pitch competition into an engaging, international virtual event

Alibaba Entrepreneurs Fund (AEF), a not-for-profit initiative from Alibaba Group, hosts the annual JUMPSTARTER pitch competition. When coronavirus concerns emerged less than two weeks before the February 2020 event, AEF needed to quickly move the competition online, livestream it globally, and support real-time interaction between finalists and judges. To meet this challenge, AEF turned to Intrado Healthcare’s Intrado Digital Media Virtual Events platform and Intrado Studio.

Intrado Healthcare delivered a custom-branded virtual event environment with a lobby, finalist viewing area, judges’ space, and voting links, while Intrado Studio enabled real-time webcasting across desktop and mobile devices. The result was the world’s largest online pitch contest, with 20,000 fans and supporters from 100 countries and regions participating online, 58 hours of streaming content, and 544 metric tons of carbon saved. AEF also reported very positive feedback from users and partners.
