Mosaic, the world’s largest supplier of phosphate and potash, was managing over 200 employees at its Belle Plaine potash facility using Excel, forcing a site scheduler to spend roughly 95% of her day on manual shift changes, requests and schedule building. Communication was inefficient—staff relied on website checks and phone calls and there was no equitable way to broadcast available shifts. To address this, Mosaic engaged vendor InTime and adopted its web-based Employee Self-Service portal.

InTime’s solution gave more than 200 Mosaic employees mobile access to personal schedules, SMS/email notifications, shift requests and equitable posting of available shifts, while providing the scheduler tools to set minimum staffing, receive alerts and track training/certification compliance by shift. The result was a dramatic efficiency gain: a 70% reduction in time spent scheduling and a 97% reduction in time making schedule adjustments, along with improved employee communication and more reliable staffing compliance.
