A InTime Case Study
Johnson County Sheriff Department, KS struggled with a manual scheduling process for its ~600 employees that relied on Excel and SharePoint. Building the annual schedule took eight to ten hours, daily management consumed up to two hours, formulas and file locks frequently corrupted or crashed, overlapping shifts complicated timekeeping, and slow overtime posting forced managers to mandate overtime and waste time resolving coverage issues.
InTime implemented a unified scheduling solution (including its Shift Bidding module and web/mobile notifications) for both patrol and detention, trimming schedule builds to 10–15 minutes and daily management to about 10 minutes. InTime enabled accurate trimming of overlapping hours for better timekeeping, allowed staff to bid and sign up for shifts via phone, and filled roughly 75–80% of voluntary overtime, eliminating the 45–60 minutes a month previously spent assigning OT and giving supervisors and deputies far greater scheduling efficiency and flexibility.
