The University of Kentucky Police Department faced chronic overtime, scheduling and visibility problems across a campus that runs roughly 40,000 events a year. Their prior electronic scheduling tool couldn’t integrate with UKPD’s unique point system, forcing manual point calculation, producing billing inaccuracies, understaffed events, officer burnout and high turnover. In 2017 the University of Kentucky Police Department implemented InTime’s workforce/overtime management solution to address these challenges.
InTime integrated with UKPD’s points system and automated overtime postings, signups and reporting via mobile app, web portal and email, eliminating manual entries and improving staffing visibility. As a result, InTime enabled equitable OT distribution, accurate documentation and billing (including COVID-19 grant reimbursement down to the hour/half-hour), reduced officer turnover and saved the department thousands in recruitment/replacement costs, and was later expanded to cover medical center security.
