Case Study: Calgary Police Service eliminates 4,000+ spreadsheets and automates payroll with InTime

A InTime Case Study

Preview of the Calgary Police Service Case Study

How Calgary Police Service streamlined their operations and eliminated the needs for over 4,000 spreadsheets department wide

Calgary Police Service, the third-largest police agency in Canada with nearly 3,000 employees across multiple divisions, faced inefficient payroll and fragmented data across RMS, HR, payroll, CAD and some 140 custom in‑house applications. Having originally sought a new timekeeping solution, they selected InTime’s scheduling and workforce management software in 2012 to address manual timesheet entry, a challenging timebank rule, inconsistent data and weak budget controls.

Calgary consolidated scheduling and timekeeping around InTime, integrating it with PeopleSoft, NicheRMS and Microsoft Active Directory to make InTime the operational hub. The change eliminated 4,160 spreadsheets a year and automated the generation and transfer of roughly 156,000 timesheets annually, cut Standby Premium costs by 50%, improved staffing models and response times, and automated pay-premium eligibility and role-based pay processes for better budget control.
