A Intetics Case Study
Stereolithography Restorative Device Company needed a way to manage very large binary STL files generated by software that creates 3D models of teeth for their restorative device. Intetics was engaged to address the storage and handling challenge caused by bulky STL datasets and to provide a solution that integrates with the client's existing applications.
Intetics developed an STL compression algorithm delivered as a dynamic link library for use with external applications, offering both a lossy mode (posterization of triangle coordinates) and a lossless mode (precise data storage and decompression). The Intetics solution significantly reduces STL file sizes, enabling faster transfers, lower storage requirements, and reliable decompression when exact geometry retention is required.
