Creating a BIM Model For a Big Shopping Center From a Laser Point Cloud

Big Shopping Center needed a professional BIM model of its interior for redevelopment, advertising and tenant visualizations but had no building drawings. Intetics was engaged to convert laser point cloud data into a usable BIM model and supporting services (laser scan, special cameras, computer vision and cloud-based BIM).

Intetics delivered a detailed BIM model in under a week covering about 5,000 sq.m., including architecture and all light-source locations, and deployed cloud access for real-time field information, change visibility and trend predictions. The solution saved customers time on reporting, was implemented by the client’s users, and involved 12 international experts, 11,000 fields analyzed, 1,068,000 observed hectares and 387 customers as measurable outcomes.
