Case Study: SUNY Advances Data-Driven Education with InterWorks Tableau Solutions

The State University of New York (SUNY) needed a way to make its post-secondary data accessible and useful for its Cradle to Career Alliance partners across New York State. To support data-driven collective impact, SUNY worked with InterWorks and Tableau to build interactive dashboards that could compare key metrics such as college readiness and college completion across campuses, partner sites, and student demographics.

InterWorks helped SUNY create a Tableau workbook with seven dashboards, using data from SUNY’s warehouse and Excel, plus training so SUNY staff could maintain and expand the work themselves. The dashboards were well received by partners, improved data sharing across sites, and sparked broader conversation about data collection, governance, and future Tableau Server deployment for secure, scalable reporting across the alliance.
