NHS England modernizes PAPI dashboards with InterWorks and 5.4 billion rows of linked data

NHS England faced the challenge of maintaining and evolving its crucial Person and Population Information (PAPI) analytics dashboards amidst significant budget cuts and loss of key personnel. The need for deep population health insight was growing, especially with PAPI being a national priority, but internal resources were strained. They engaged InterWorks for support in their overall analytics strategy and to overhaul the Tableau-based PAPI product.

InterWorks took on the Tableau development and, due to further internal changes, expanded their role to include data strategy and design. They delivered a completely overhauled set of dashboards that provided flexible, accessible insight from a massive dataset, enabling users across the health system to understand population health and risk factors. The project was a success, resulting in a high-quality product that met the needs of a wide range of stakeholders and in which both InterWorks and NHS England take great pride.
