Meridian Technology Center - Customer Case Study

Meridian Technology Center, a leading career technology center in Stillwater, Oklahoma, needed a better way to provide uninterrupted remote access to students and staff while supporting a BYOD approach. Its challenge was especially complex because many programs, including the Pre-Engineering Academy, relied on graphics-intensive applications like Autodesk AutoCAD, Inventor, Revit, and Google Earth. Meridian turned to InterWorks for help with desktop virtualization and NVIDIA GRID-enabled VDI.

InterWorks designed and implemented a phased VDI solution using Dell PowerEdge R720 servers, NVIDIA GRID K2 cards, VMware vSphere 5.5, and Horizon View 6.0. The first phase delivered 60 virtual desktops for the Pre-Engineering Academy and IT staff, with the environment built to support up to 260 concurrent sessions and 600 total users. Meridian reported smoother implementation, improved graphical performance, easier management, lower overhead, and a more consistent user experience across labs, with plans to expand to around 230 virtual desktops overall.
