Hamilton College saves hours of scripting with InterWorks

Hamilton College, a highly regarded liberal arts college, needed to redesign the way it managed and interacted with its giving data. The college selected Tableau Software for this endeavor, which immediately involved InterWorks to initiate the project. The challenge was to take JSON files from its enterprise resource platform and make them readily available for analysis, moving beyond custom scripting that required continual maintenance.

InterWorks implemented a new data architecture using Matillion for ETL and Snowflake for data warehousing, hosted on an AWS EC2 instance. This solution saved the college countless development hours by eliminating the need for custom scripts and performed much faster. The new pipeline was also flexible and scalable, allowing Hamilton to start small and expand its data efforts. With its data pipeline firmly established, the college can now focus on data validation and governance, enabling more informed decision-making surrounding its gifts.
