GBG Mannheim modernizes analytics for 19,000 flats with InterWorks

GBG – Mannheimer Wohnungsbaugesellschaft mbH (GBG Mannheim), the largest housing association in Baden-Württemberg, faced challenges with its outdated analytics systems. Relying on SAP reporting, Excel, and SharePoint, the company struggled with slow, snapshot-based reporting that hindered its ability to identify trends across its vast portfolio of 19,000 flats. To meet growing reporting needs and gain faster, deeper insights, GBG Mannheim sought a modern analytics solution and engaged InterWorks for its data architecture, engineering, and Tableau consulting services.

InterWorks implemented a new data stack for GBG Mannheim, starting with a proof of concept using Snowflake, Matillion, and Tableau on Azure. After a successful trial, InterWorks fully implemented the solution, creating scalable data loading patterns from SAP into a central Snowflake database. This new infrastructure reduced report generation time from weeks to days or even hours, enabled historical trend analysis, and allowed non-technical users to create advanced analytics dashboards in Tableau, ultimately freeing resources to better serve tenants and community goals.
