Case Study: Andalusian Health Service (SAS) achieves unified electronic medical records and hospital‑wide interoperability with InterSystems Ensemble

A InterSystems Case Study

Preview of the Andalusian Health Service Case Study

The Servicio Andaluz de Salud (SAS) base their hospital SOA Strategy on InterSystems Ensemble

The Servicio Andaluz de Salud (SAS) runs a vast public health network—1,514 primary care centers, 29 hospitals, 7.9 million clinical records, 3,500 pharmacies and over 17,000 professionals—and needed a scalable, sustainable integration architecture to support its Diraya electronic medical record and dozens of applications while keeping implementation impact to a minimum and ensuring secure, traceable messaging.

Everis implemented InterSystems Ensemble as an enterprise service bus and SOA backbone, using built‑in adapters and standards support (HL7, DICOM), message persistence and orchestration to integrate 14 corporate applications and 104 services across hospitals. The result: immediate, authorized access to a single unified patient record, consolidated operational reporting and reliable, secure message exchange—and a flexible, extensible platform for rapid future innovation.
