St John of God Pathology Achieves Milestone in East Timor

St John of God Pathology, Australia’s fourth-largest pathology provider with 23 laboratories and 135 collection centres serving over 1.5 million patients annually, led a major upgrade in East Timor where the National Laboratory and Hospital relied on handwritten diagnostic results and limited local capacity. As part of its Pathology Development Program, the organisation aimed to standardise systems, improve quality and efficiency, and build sustainable diagnostic capability.

They implemented InterSystems TrakCare Lab and seconded a six‑person team to Dili to ensure a smooth go‑live and train Timorese scientists. The automated system reduced manual transcription, improved result quality and workflow, quickly raised local staff proficiency, and established a foundation for continued training and better patient outcomes.
