Spectrum Health, a not‑for‑profit health system based in Grand Rapids, Mich., needed to extend its MySpectrum patient‑centric web portal to mobile users while aggregating clinical and administrative data from six disparate systems across the enterprise. The challenge was delivering secure, seamless access to personal health information on the go and ensuring reliable, monitorable data flows into the portal.
Using InterSystems Ensemble as a rapid integration and development platform, Spectrum Health launched a smartphone app that aggregates and delivers lab results, appointments, urgent‑care wait times, provider directories, maps and symptom‑checking through patients’ MySpectrum accounts. Ensemble also provides HL7 dashboarding and control for monitoring and managing data flows; the result is faster, more convenient patient access, greater engagement and loyalty, and a scalable foundation for next‑generation care delivery.
