SPAR Austria Empowers Local Store Managers with Caché-based ERP System

Salzburg-based SPAR Austria, a €4 billion retail group with over 1,300 stores, needed an end-to-end ERP and POS system to give local store managers accurate, real-time control of inventory and deliveries. Centralized data had previously led to occasional stock shortages, so after evaluating options they chose IMAge, an ERP/POS solution built by ASPIAG on the InterSystems Caché object database.

IMAge—using Caché Server Pages for a unified user interface—put inventory control at the store level, making the system easy to use for employees and reducing stockouts and fulfillment issues. The scalable, high-performance solution was rolled out to more than 1,400 stores (including 50 hypermarkets) by the end of 2010, with ongoing enhancements planned to extend functionality.
