Scotland's eHealth Programme chooses InterSystems Ensemble as its national integration platform

NHS Scotland faced the challenge of modernizing national health IT to improve patient safety, streamline services and support the Scottish Better Health, Better Care agenda—moving toward a paperless environment while securely sharing clinical and non-clinical information across hospitals and reusing prior IT investments. To do this the eHealth Programme needed a common, standards-based integration platform to underpin a national Patient Management System and enable a service-oriented architecture.

Scotland purchased a national licence for InterSystems Ensemble, integrated with InterSystems TrakCare, as the country’s standard integration platform. Ensemble centralizes data flow and component reuse, supports faster diagnosis and treatment, enables a virtual electronic health record and a future Clinical Portal, and helps control costs through standardisation while leveraging existing systems to improve clinical outcomes.
