Santiago's West Metropolitan Health Service Improves Care Delivery for 1.2 Million People

West Metropolitan Health Service (SSMOc) is part of Chile’s National Health Service and operates 20 facilities serving 1.2 million people in western Santiago. Facing national AUGE healthcare reforms that guaranteed service levels and demanded greater efficiency and prevention, SSMOc needed software to automate processes across the continuum of care and curb rising costs and fragmentation.

SSMOc selected InterSystems TrakCare for its configurable clinical and administrative modules and healthcare experience, and is rolling it out across seven hospitals, primary care centers, a centralized referral system, and seven labs. TrakCare—backed by a high‑performance Caché database and designed to handle over 3 million encounters a year—has increased access to comprehensive patient records, reduced duplicate records and redundant lab/pharmacy requests, improved scheduling and wait times, and strengthened bed, lab and pharmacy management.
