A InterSystems Case Study
Optalert, an Australian leader in fatigue‑management technology that uses infrared glasses to detect eye and eyelid movement, was generating massive volumes of data (about 2MB per user per hour) for alerts, reporting and research. Their legacy Microsoft Access analytics couldn’t scale or provide real‑time business intelligence, preventing them from offering a web‑based, SaaS reporting service and from delivering fast, flexible reports and analytics to customers.
Optalert adopted InterSystems Caché (with plans to use DeepSee) to build a global, web‑based eReports SaaS platform; using Caché they developed the new application in 80 days, enabled real‑time wireless data feeds, fast multidimensional reporting and scalable storage. The solution lowered costs, supported subscription pricing and broader customer reach, and unlocked real‑time BI and dashboards for improved operational decision‑making and new value‑added services.
