InterSystems partnered with NHS Scotland to tackle a fragmented, aging mix of hospital systems that hindered timely care, reporting and resource use. A consortium of five Health Boards (working with NHS Lothian) sought a single, modern patient management platform to standardize clinical processes, reduce paper handling and support better coordination across 131 facilities serving over 70% of the Scottish population.

The solution deployed InterSystems TrakCare (with Ensemble for national integration), providing a unified, web-based record, real-time admissions/transfers, bed management, test ordering and specialty modules. The rollout reduced duplicate testing and paper records, sped diagnosis and treatment, improved patient safety and care continuity, and delivered stronger service-level reporting and operational efficiency across a large, multi-board health system.
