A InterSystems Case Study
NHS Ayrshire & Arran, one of Scotland’s regional NHS Boards, faced fragmented legacy systems and integration engines that made simple tasks—like producing electronic discharge letters—slow and error-prone, encouraged siloed specialist skills, and increased costs and support overheads.
The board implemented InterSystems Ensemble on its virtual servers to replace legacy engines and integrate systems such as the JAC pharmacy and McKesson HISS. After quick team training they used Ensemble to merge and deduplicate patient indexes into a single SQL store, transform records for the SCI repository (achieving ~95% patient matching), retire old platforms, cut support time and costs, and free staff to deliver faster, more connected patient services.
