MemorialCare is a not‑for‑profit health system serving Los Angeles and Orange County with six hospitals, 2,500 affiliated physicians and a broad mix of clinics and specialty centers. Rapid growth and acquisitions left it with dozens of disparate systems and a legacy interface engine that couldn’t keep up with the need to integrate acquisitions, aggregate data into its Epic EMR, and provide the analytics required for population health and coordinated care.

MemorialCare replaced the legacy engine with InterSystems HealthShare and, with partner J2 Interactive, migrated 183 interfaces from 89 applications within a year. HealthShare provided near‑real‑time data aggregation and tighter Epic integration, enabled bi‑directional sharing with community EMRs, automated event alerts and discharge summaries, and integrated labs and radiology—resulting in faster integrations, improved care coordination and analytics, and a scalable platform that supports the system’s triple‑aim and ACO objectives.
