A InterSystems Case Study
Kettering Health Network, a not-for-profit system of eight hospitals, nine EDs and 120 outpatient sites in southwest Ohio, needed to replace its legacy JCAPS/eGate integration engine that was impeding an Epic implementation with reliability, performance and vendor‑support problems. The challenge was to migrate more than 150 application interfaces streaming to and from Epic to a next‑generation platform without disrupting operations.
After a successful proof of concept, Kettering implemented the InterSystems integration platform in under 120 days, rebuilding 150+ interfaces. The move delivered rapid interface development, greater speed, reliability and scalability, world‑class vendor support (hourly responses) and seamless failover via database mirroring during a data‑center outage—giving the health system much greater agility to support providers.
