Ipiranga Cuts Integration Costs by 50% Using Ensemble

Ipiranga, a leading Brazilian petroleum company, needed to comply with new electronic invoice (NF‑e) rules from state tax authorities and the federal Internal Revenue Service. Implementing a commercial NF‑e application required complex integration with its existing systems—most critically ABADI, the company’s billing system—creating a challenge to control integration complexity and maintain system stability.

Ipiranga adopted InterSystems Ensemble (and Caché compatibility) for its performance, robustness, and stability, completing the integration project in about ten months. Ensemble allowed the NF‑e application to be simplified into reusable services, supported an SOA approach, sped development and maintenance, and enabled reuse of roughly 16 services across 33 Siebel CRM and other integrations—cutting integration costs by about 50%.
