InterSystems TrakCare Lab Delivers Higher Productivity and Better Clinical Decisions for ASL 13 of Novara

The Health Authority of Novara provides care to about 331,000 people across 77 towns and operates three hospitals and a multi-site clinical laboratory that in 2007 handled roughly 1,700 patient samples per day and 3.1 million tests annually. The lab struggled with numerous non‑integrated applications, one PC per analyzer, duplicate patient entries, inefficient test registration and sub‑optimal use of space, technology and staff.

To address this, Novara implemented InterSystems TrakCare LAB as part of a wider TrakCare roll‑out, using a single Caché‑based Electronic Patient Record and integrator CIC to centralize analyzer interfaces and automate workflows. The result: up to a 25% reduction in test requests, faster turnaround and immediate access to validated results, improved data quality and reporting, better allocation of lab resources, and significant administrative time savings.
