Integrated Modular Systems Inc. (IMSI) developed a solution to address radiologists’ complex, multi-application workflows—where study requests live in RIS, images in PACS and dictation lives in another system—creating delays, paperwork and reporting errors. Hospital partners wanted a single, paperless interface that would control the entire reporting workflow and reduce turnaround time and mistakes.

IMSI built imsiVOICe-Interactive with OneList on the InterSystems Ensemble integration platform, connecting RIS and PACS via HL7 and DICOM and integrating wireless dictation and transcription/voice recognition. The system links studies, patient data and audio, warns if the wrong images are being viewed, provides one-click access to priors and routes approved reports to clinicians. The result: a vastly more efficient workflow, a 20% reduction in report turnaround time, fewer reporting errors and easy deployment across different RIS/PACS environments.
