Decor Heytens transforms its applications with Caché to manage aggressive growth

Decor Heytens, a 20-year-old European interior-decor chain with over 80 stores, faced a major IT challenge as it planned to add 10 stores per year for five years. To support this aggressive growth the company chose to redevelop three custom applications with a graphical user interface and migrate all databases to InterSystems Caché to ensure robustness, scalability and faster development.

A three-person IT team rebuilt the systems using WinDev for the front end, Caché as the database and Caché Direct for ActiveX, delivering rapid deployment (NT server configured in under three hours) and much faster processing. Results included cutting a monthly rotation report from a full day to under two hours, the ability to query 450 records across structures and handle ~250 million records, display 35 data structures on one screen, integrated management of 8,000 products, clearer board reports and automated buying suggestions — reducing stock levels and freeing capital — plus strong vendor support.
