Caché in the cloud enables agile, elastic development at Paltac

Paltac Corporation, Japan’s largest wholesale distributor of health and beauty products, wanted to leverage smartphones to share sales information and improve operations. They needed a low‑cost, scalable pilot that could grow enterprise‑wide while meeting strict security requirements and avoiding large hardware investments.

Paltac deployed InterSystems Caché on Amazon EC2 and built a mobile information‑sharing system, launching the first application six months after starting development. Caché’s high performance reduced the number of cloud servers (and costs), while PKI, registration, SSL and an on‑premises storage strategy ensured strong security with no unauthorized access; Paltac now plans to expand its cloud deployments and adopt centralized management and mobile frameworks.
