Telekom Slovenia partnered with Intersec to implement a nationwide emergency alert system, SI-ALERT, to strengthen national preparedness. The challenge was to reliably warn Slovenia’s 2.1 million citizens and 6.2 million annual tourists of diverse risks, including floods, fires, storms, and potential terrorist threats, as mandated by an EU directive following tragic floods in 2023.

Intersec provided the core Cell Broadcast technology for SI-ALERT, which sends instant, reliable alerts to all mobile phones in targeted areas without overloading the network. The solution complements existing systems and supports multiple languages. The successful nationwide technical rollout was paired with a public education campaign to promote risk awareness and familiarize citizens with the new alerts.
