A Internet Initiative Japan (IIJ) Case Study
Toray Industries, Inc., a leading Japanese materials manufacturer, faced a security challenge when an unauthorized user accessed their integrated group network via a remote connection from an international affiliate. This incident, which targeted server management protocols like SSH and RDP, highlighted a disparity in security measures across their global operations. To prevent future unauthorized control of servers, they sought a solution and partnered with vendor Internet Initiative Japan (IIJ) to implement IIJ Safous Privileged Remote Access.
IIJ implemented its cloud-based Safous Privileged Remote Access service to control all SSH and RDP management communications. The solution provided multi-factor authentication and Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) principles, blocking direct access to servers via the group network. The result was a complete success; in over a year of operation, there have been zero instances of unauthorized access to their domestic servers through management communication, effectively proving the solution's security impact.
