Technology Improves Warehouse Efficiency Space Occupancy, and Energy Consumption

HAVI, a global supply chain company serving food service customers in Portugal, needed a modern logistics centre that could efficiently manage frozen, refrigerated and ambient goods while maintaining cold-chain integrity, stock traceability and order sequencing. To meet the demands of high service levels, shelf-life control and fast dispatch, HAVI worked with Interlake Mecalux to equip the facility with advanced storage and warehouse management technology.

Interlake Mecalux implemented two automated warehouses, pallet racks, drive-in racks, Pallet Shuttle systems and the Easy WMS warehouse management system, interfaced with HAVI’s WMS. The solution improved productivity, reduced manual handling and enhanced safety, while also cutting energy consumption by 10% and automating 77% of freezer pallet movements. It also increased storage efficiency, including a 75% higher occupancy in the automated freezer system, and gave HAVI full real-time traceability and order sequencing control.
