A Interlake Mecalux Case Study
Children’s Memorial Hospital needed to equip the ninth-floor service department of its new 23-story Chicago children’s hospital quickly and efficiently while the old hospital remained fully operational. With a compact footprint and a tight opening timeline, the hospital needed a storage system that could handle thousands of medical supplies and support a sophisticated replenishment process. Interlake Mecalux provided Wide Span Shelving for the new service center.
Interlake Mecalux worked with the hospital’s procurement team to design and install a customized shelving layout that maximized the available space, accommodated building columns, and adapted to late changes in ceiling height and room dimensions. The system was installed in about 21 days and created nearly 1,000 square feet of metal-decked shelving for 1,700 products, improving receiving, inventory control, and daily replenishment through the Pyxis MedStation system.
