A Interlake Mecalux Case Study
El Milagro, a food manufacturer, needed a better way to handle the growing volume of tortilla chips, tortillas, and related products at its San Marcos facility. The company had tried to retrofit a used pallet flow system, but the installation was poorly matched to the warehouse layout, lacked proper flow lanes and brakes, and created safety and operating issues. Interlake Mecalux pallet flow racking was ultimately brought in as the solution.
Interlake Mecalux, working with ESS and Mallard, replaced the unstable used system with a new pallet flow rack design tailored to El Milagro’s unit loads and storage needs. The new installation included five flow rails, new wheels, and a proper braking system, improving product flow, safety, and heavy-duty storage capacity for items like 2,000 lb oil containers. The system was installed in June 2011 and completed two weeks later, giving El Milagro a more efficient and flexible warehouse operation.
