Efficient Conveyors Improve Storage at Nestlé in Girona

Nestlé, the global food and beverage leader, needed to keep pace with growing production and distribution demands at its Nescafé plant in Girona, Spain. To support ongoing expansion at this high-performing site, Interlake Mecalux collaborated with Nestlé to design and install automated logistics solutions for finished goods, raw materials, and capsule production.

Interlake Mecalux implemented a multi-stage system of automated pallet conveyors, pallet lifts, transfer cars, and a covered overpass linking separate buildings across a road. The solution streamlined internal flows, reduced manual handling and interference, and enabled direct dispatch operations, while the storage system provided capacity for 16,380 pallets in one warehouse and 740 containers in another. Interlake Mecalux also integrated Galileo control software to coordinate equipment and connect with Nestlé’s warehouse and ERP systems, maximizing throughput and improving safety.
