Convenience Store Supplier Streamlines Replenishment With Bolted Selective Rack

Lil’ Drug Store Products, a nationwide supplier of health and beauty items for convenience stores and gas stations, needed more storage space and a more efficient way to manage replenishment as sales grew. Interlake Mecalux, working with Hawkeye Material Handling, addressed the challenge with a bolted selective rack system for the company’s Cedar Rapids, Iowa distribution center.

Interlake Mecalux installed 14 double-deep rows of 27-foot-high pallet racking, creating a high-bay layout that fit 400 finished goods SKUs and 300 display component SKUs. The new system increased storage capacity by 1,200 pallets to 3,908 total pallets, boosted pallet position capacity by over 40%, and improved replenishment efficiency by allowing reserve stock to be stored directly above and behind pick faces.
