Automated Rack Supported Warehouse of Michelin in Vitoria Integrated Manufacturing

Michelin, the tire manufacturer, expanded its Vitoria, Spain production center to keep up with rising output and needed a way to store rubber containers more efficiently within limited space. The company chose Interlake Mecalux to design and build a turnkey automated warehouse solution, integrated with manufacturing and tailored to Michelin’s metal containers.

Interlake Mecalux implemented a 27-meter-high clad-rack warehouse with conveyors, stacker cranes, transfer cars, lifts, and warehouse management software to automate container flow between production and dispatch. The system provides 4,590-container storage capacity, handles up to 240 containers per hour, and operates 24/7, improving space utilization, traceability, and dispatch productivity for Michelin.
