Boston College, working with Interfolio, needed a better way to manage a growing demand for faculty hiring in 2012. Multiple departments, search committees, and the Office of the Provost were using fragmented processes, creating disorganization, heavy paperwork, and limited visibility across the hiring workflow. The school adopted the Interfolio Faculty Search platform to bring more uniformity and coordination to the process.

Interfolio implemented a cloud-based faculty hiring system that let Boston College’s teams complete and collaborate on searches in real time from anywhere with internet access. The Office of the Provost gained transparency into departmental hiring, while faculty and administrators benefited from a streamlined, centralized process that maintained quality and integrity. Boston College piloted the platform with 10 searches in fall 2012, then expanded it campus-wide the next year and later added Interfolio Review, Promotion & Tenure and Faculty180, reporting overwhelmingly positive feedback and a greatly reduced administrative burden.
