'US' Utility Services - Customer Case Study

‘us’ – Utility Services, an alliance between South East Water Ltd, Thiess Services and Siemens, needed to improve the value of its IT projects and fix manual, inconsistent reporting across complex operations and maintenance processes. Its existing works management system, Montage, was not being used consistently by all groups, making operational and financial reporting time-consuming and unreliable. Interfacing Technologies provided its Enterprise Process Center (EPC) to support a Business Process Management Centre of Excellence and help the organisation understand and standardize end-to-end processes.

Using Interfacing’s EPC, the company modeled value streams, clarified roles with RACI, published processes through a web portal, and aligned stakeholders around standardized work, field data capture, and job costing. The results included improved data quality, reduced month-end reconciliation effort from 204 to 102 person-hours, elimination of a redundant timesheet system and role, annual savings of $75,000, expected labor cost reductions of 25% to 50%, and a 36% increase in cost recovery for chargeable works. Interfacing also helped enable a cultural shift toward process ownership and continuous improvement.
