Houston Zoo, which cares for 6,000 animals and welcomes nearly 2.5 million visitors a year, faced slow access to clinical and administrative information—documents were scattered on two hard drives and an aging intranet, making routine tasks and internal communications inefficient. To solve this, Houston Zoo selected Interact’s intranet platform to centralize medical guides, HR forms, safety data and other critical resources for mobile and office staff.
Interact built and trained the team on a new intranet called “The Watering Hole,” adding search, a People Directory, calendars, blogs and quick-action “I want to…” tasks. The result: rapid adoption (400 of 415 employees now regularly log in), reduced administrative overhead, faster completion of routine tasks, clearer event scheduling and improved internal communications—freeing staff to spend more time caring for animals and visitors.
