Case Study: Rede Amazonica reduces distribution costs and accelerates digital conversion with Intelsat satellite connectivity

A Intelsat Case Study

Rede Amazonica reduces costs by over 30% with Intelsat

Rede Amazonica, the largest TV network in Northern Brazil, faced rising operational costs and growing competition from new media providers. Complicating matters, new regulations mandated a switch from analog to digital broadcast, which threatened to divert resources away from content development. To maintain viewership and revenue, Rede Amazonica needed to eliminate the costs of distributing content from 13 remote locations and find a fast solution for digital conversion.

Intelsat implemented a solution using three uplinks and premier C-band distribution from a single location. This consolidated Rede Amazonica's 13 HDTV feeds, enabling quick and cost-effective launches of HD channels to over 200 digital terrestrial transmitters. As a result, Intelsat helped the network simplify its operations, reduce costs by over 30%, and significantly accelerate its analog-to-digital conversion, freeing up resources to invest in more high-quality content.
