Case Study: Orange Mali expands reliable 3G/4G connectivity across Mali with Intelsat satellite networking

A Intelsat Case Study

Orange Mali expands connectivity to 360,000 people with Intelsat

Orange Mali, a leading mobile network operator, sought to expand reliable broadband connectivity across Mali, a challenge hindered by conflict, adverse weather, and degraded terrestrial infrastructure. To meet growing demand for 3G and 4G services, they partnered with vendor Intelsat for a cost-effective, scalable VSAT solution.

Intelsat deployed a robust satellite-powered network using the IS-23 and IS-10-02 satellites, marking the first such 4G deployment in Francophone West Africa. This solution from Intelsat increased Orange Mali's capacity from 200 Mbps to over 5 Gbps, providing connectivity to 60 remote sites and 360,000 people. The results include stimulated job creation, the return of displaced residents, and new economic opportunities for women, while enabling Orange Mali to offer new business services.
