WMS Helps Frey Electric Achieve Significant Materials Savings

Frey Electric, a Cincinnati-based electrical contracting firm, faced high material costs that consumed nearly one-third of revenue and made it difficult to monitor job costs, missed extras, material shrinkage and peak usage. Referred by Dexter+Chaney, Frey selected IntelliTrack and its WMS solution to integrate inventory tracking with their existing Forefront® accounting system and improve daily visibility into job material usage.

IntelliTrack deployed its WMS, including four Symbol Pocket PC handheld scanners and a Zebra TLP 2844 barcode printer, to post materials to jobs directly into accounting and prepare for future procurement workflows. As a result of IntelliTrack’s solution, Frey Electric saw a 3% drop in inventory costs in the first six months of 2006 despite rising material prices — a savings that would have equaled nearly 10% of annual income had costs remained at 2005 levels.
