Asset Tracking Helps SPAWAR Eliminate Time-Consuming Manual Processes

Space and Naval Warfare (SPAWAR) Systems Center San Diego’s Extremely High Frequency (EHF) SATCOM branch needed to track high-value government-owned equipment and manage a configuration database of over 10,000 stock parts. Their existing configuration management software made inventory slow, error-prone and labor-intensive, so SPAWAR engaged IntelliTrack and its Fixed Assets RFID solution to improve inventory control.

IntelliTrack, working with Serco, bridged SPAWAR’s configuration management system to IntelliTrack’s Fixed Assets RFID: high-value parts were tagged with passive RFID, handheld readers updated locations and assemblies, and the data was imported into existing databases. The IntelliTrack implementation enabled rapid location checks, reduced manual inventory time and human error, improved parts database accuracy, and cut unnecessary spare purchases — eliminating time-consuming manual processes and streamlining inventory operations.
