New York City Housing Authority installs Intellihot’s 9.4M BTU/hr tankless water heaters

The New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) faced a challenge at its Long Island Baptist Houses, where an outdated, low-efficiency steam boiler and tank system was consuming excessive energy year-round to provide domestic hot water. The system was difficult to maintain and operated inefficiently even during summer months when space heating was not required. NYCHA selected Intellihot's commercial tankless water heaters, including the iN and iQ series models, for the upgrade project.

Intellihot's solution decoupled the heating and hot water systems by installing high-efficiency, on-demand tankless water heaters. This allowed NYCHA to shut down the boilers for servicing during the summer, leading to significant energy savings. The Intellihot system also provided remote monitoring capabilities via a mobile app, enabling building owners to track energy use and system performance. The project resulted in an installed capacity of 9,400,000 BTU/hr with zero gallons of storage, providing a more efficient and reliable hot water supply for the development.
