Intellihot provides hot water for university’s student center

East Tennessee State University (ETSU) needed a reliable domestic hot water backup for its D.P. Culp University Center, the campus hub serving student and administrative offices, dining, recreation, and a post office. The aging system consisted of five 100-gallon, 199,000 BTU tanks that were no longer ideal for supporting the campus steam system during summer shutdowns and emergency repairs. Intellihot Inc. provided the solution, using an iQ1001 unit with zero storage.

Intellihot Inc. installed one iQ1001, rated at 1,000,000 BTU/hr, to replace the five old tanks and supply the entire student center with hot water whenever the steam system is offline. The result was a more reliable, space-saving backup system with zero gallons of storage, delivering hot water on demand during scheduled maintenance and unexpected repairs.
